Woodpecker Woods is located approximately 40 miles west of Minneapolis/ St. Paul.  Randy and Kathy Johnson have enjoyed living in a log house in the maple-basswood forest since 1995.  The 80 acres of woods has abundant water and wildlife....deer, fox, turkeys, many kinds of ducks, geese and of course....lots of woodpeckers! Among the varieties frequently seen....red-headed, downy, sapsuckers and the pileateds. We chose our favorite to be our logo...the pileated woodpecker!!

We operate a satellite telecommunications business by the name of Relay House. We provide mobile technology for program origination & reception(ie, breaking news coverage, live events, music, media tours, sports, education and business television). Randy is the Engineer in the Minneapolis-based truck. Kathy manages the office. We have great employees to help operate the trucks in the Kansas City and the Chicago areas as well as maintain our home facility.

Randy's passions include: a dark green corvette and a Harley-Davidson Nightrod.

Kathy's passions include: FJORDS, dogs (9) and We Can Ride.

We have a lot of dogs...2 German Shepherds, a Golden Retriever, a Yellow Lab, 4 West Highland Terriers and a Cairn Terrier. The lab and all 5 terriers have been rescued.  We support the causes of:

Crossroads Animal Shelter, Buffalo Minnesota

Helping Paws, Hopkins Minnesota and

Memory of Monroe Scottie Rescue, Eden Prairie, MN.

We Can Ride....a therapeutic horseback riding & carriage driving program for disabled children and adults based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Woodpecker Woods has provided equine partners for 8 years and hosted hippotherapy, carriage driving and riding classes for the last 5 years.  Kathy is a NARHA certified riding and driving instructor.
